Fifth Grade Car Wash Exciting news, 5th Grade Families! Fifth grade is hosting 2 FREE car washes this year! These car washes are in partnership with the PTA , and designed to help 5th grade raise funds for their end of year events and celebrations! The first car wash will be held Saturday, September 23rd from 11am -3pm. Each class is invited to staff the car wash for a 1 hour shift. We’d like students to attend the slot allotted for their class. However, if your student is unable to attend with his/her class, but can make it to another time slot, please sign up for the class slot that works. The schedule is as follows: 11am-12pm- Mr. Lew’s Class 12pm-1pm- Ms. Locurcio’s Class 1pm-2pm- Mr. Fernandez’s Class 2pm-3pm- Mrs. Fullerton’s Class The car wash is FREE; however, cash donations are welcome. This is a fun teamwork opportunity for the students for a great cause! Come out and get your car washed! Invite your family, friends and neighbors to come by for a car wash too. Please contact School Counselor Christina McLeod for more information [email protected] or 470 254-2816 Homework This year we have decided as a grade level to implement optional homework for extra review and practice at home. Homework in fifth grade will not be counted towards student grades. Rather, it will used solely for academic enrichment purposes. It is an excellent opportunity to review concepts at home while honing fifth grade skills and developing great study habits! Weekly homework will consist of fifth grade math and language skills and will exceed no more than 1 double-sided page per week. All homework will be due at the end of the week, each Friday. Students will also practice using their school agendas to write down their assigned homework at the beginning of each week. Again, homework is completely optional in fifth grade. Homework will begin next Monday, August 14th. We look forward to your support as we implement this new process! Laptop Policy Students were all issued a laptop on Thursday of this week. Unlike in years past, this device will not be going home with students each night. Instead, they will place the laptop inside our charging cart so that it is ready for use the next day. School Gum Policy There has been an increase in students coming to school with gum. This is not allowed. Gum is not allowed in class. Students have been informed and continue to disregard. Students have been warned and the next time a student has gum, a reflection form will be issued. Cell Phones & Smart Watches This first week of school we have noticed a number of students wearing Apple Watches to school. Per county guidelines, Apple watches and smart watches are allowed in elementary schools. Please make sure your child is either leaving smart watches at home. Below is a snippet from the county student handbook regarding electronic devices. Comments are closed.
