Middle School - Connections! It is time to start choosing classes for Middle School! Yay! This week the only selection we need all students to complete at this time is their Connections (Electives) class for next year. Parents, please visit the link below and fill out the form for your child. Please fill out this form regardless of if your child will be attending WBMS or a different middle school next year. We need a form for each student! Yearbook Information Check out the special 5th grade information about the yearbook below! Reader Spotlight This week brings a new feature to our blog! Each week, each class will have a spotlight reader who will share information about the books they are reading in class and at home! Check out this week's readers below!
Headphones
We have noticed a trend of students not having headphones accessible during class. As we have progressed in the year students have more responsibilities on the computer that require the use of headphones (specifically in our current writing unit). Please make sure your child has headphones of their own in their backpacks daily. Computers Please make sure your child is charging their computer nightly. We are seeing many students arrive at school with batteries at 20% or less which inhibits the student from using them throughout the day as we do not have charging carts or chargers at school. Study Guides Study guides for upcoming assessments are given out one week before the assessment (the Friday before or the Monday of the week) and cover all material that students could possibly see on the test. Questions concerning the study guide should be directed to your child's teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher! Have a safe, happy weekend! Another week done and dusted! Students did a great job this week staying focused during instructional time, and showed off their great behavior during Brain Building!
Upcoming Dates 1/24 - Early Release Day (Dismissal at 12:20pm) 1/25 - Science Interim (SEE NOTE BELOW) 1/28 - On Demand - Writing Curriculum Updates
Science Interim We will be taking the mid year science interim next week on Tuesday. This is not an assessment for a grade, but these scores ARE used in order to determine placement for middle school science courses for all students. We will be reviewing material on Monday before the test Tuesday, but please impress upon your student(s) the importance of doing their best! Please read through the packet carefully as it gives full details on the trip including price and timeline. Students will need to return the permission slip and rules confirmation pages signed and filled out along with their payment no later than January 14. Students who take medication of any kind will need to also return the Student Health Services form. There has been some confusion relating to the price/payment for the Rock Eagle trip. The cost for each student is $140.00. APPROVED Chaperones must also pay $140.00. This will cover the price of the trip and everything involved except any purchases made at the trading post (small souvenirs, $10-20).
